Week 14 Streaming QBs and DSTs: Two of the biggest positions for streaming in fantasy are quarterback and defense. Here in this article, we will break down the best options at quarterback and defense. We hope to steer fantasy managers into decisions that create wins. This article will focus mostly on players less than 50-percent rostered.
Week 14 Streaming QBs
Taysom Hill (@NYJ)
This should be the top priority for managers streaming in Week 14, as it does not get much better for fantasy purposes.
Hill facing off against the Jets should be money in the bank for us. Last week against the Dallas Cowboys we saw Hill throw for 264 yards, four interceptions, two touchdowns, while also running for 101 yards for a total of 22-fantasy points. Was this a bad game for general football purposes? Yes. Does that matter for fantasy? No, because it was a great fantasy outing.
The Jets allow an average of 18.4-FPPG to opposing quarterbacks, which is very soft. Against a formidable backup quarterback in Week 13 the Jets allowed an easy 18.78 fantasy points to the position. It also helps that the Jets are the most turnover-happy team in the NFL. Hopefully, we see one or two turnovers which should give Taysom Hill and the offense a short field to work with.
Despite Hill’s solid game against Dallas in Week 13, he remains available in 65-percent of ESPN leagues heading into Week 14.
Cam Newton (vs ATL)
This sure was a dud in Week 12, but in Week 14 Cam Newton and this offense should be able to get back on track against a bad Atlanta team.
Currently, the second-worst team against opposing fantasy quarterbacks is the Atlanta Falcons who allow an average of 21.7-FPPG to the position. On top of that, the Falcons have allowed quarterbacks to score 25-plus fantasy points six times this season, or 50-percent of the time.
We do not need much from Cam to get us there since the Panthers look to get Newton into the end zone above all other players (especially with Christian McCaffrey out for the season). Even two touchdowns should be enough for fantasy managers and I like those odds against one of the worst defenses in the NFL.
Newton is available in 65-percent of ESPN leagues.
Taylor Heinicke (vs DAL)
Hosting the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14 is Taylor Heinicke and the Washington Football Team.
Dallas has made noise about being tough on opposing quarterbacks, but that does not tell the whole story. While Dallas does a great job at turning the ball over, they do allow quite a few fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. This season they are averaging a middling 17.6-FPPG to quarterbacks. Over the last two games, the Cowboys’ defense has watched that average balloon up even further as they allowed 29.42 and 22.66-fantasy points, respectively.
Heinicke remains an upper-end QB2 for fantasy managers as he is ranked the QB15 overall in fantasy. The weeks that he uses his legs seems to be his best fantasy outings and if the Dallas offense is back on track then it could require some scrambling from Heinicke to keep drives alive. Even if Heinicke relies on his arm, he may do just enough to get your fantasy team there.
Heinicke continues to lead the Football Team to ugly victories which keep their playoff hopes alive. Their divisional games against Dallas are absolutely crucial for their playoff chances and I expect them to be on top of their game at home.
Heinicke is available to stream in 70-percent of ESPN leagues heading into Week 14’s waivers.

Week 14 Streaming DSTs
Saints D/ST (@NYJ)
The best plug-and-play defense for Week 14 is none other than the New Orleans Saints who will travel to play the New York Jets.
The Jets continue to be one of the best teams to start D/ST against as they have allowed an average of 8.1-FPPG to opposing D/STs. Last week against the Eagles the Jets saw themselves surrender four sacks and even saw quarterback Zach Wilson throw one interception. The Jets remain the most turnover-prone team in the NFL as well.
The Saints’ defense is better than most and they continue to play really well as a unit despite seeing multiple consecutive losses. Sacks have been a consistent metric to count on for the New Orleans’ D/ST and it is worth noting that the Jets allow the seventh-most sacks to opposing defenses.
The Saints are available in 50-percent of ESPN leagues heading into Week 14.
Broncos D/ST (vs DET)
Playing at home and outdoors, it seems that the Broncos should have a solid D/ST performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 14.
Detroit continues to be one of the friendliest teams against opposing D/STs. In 2021 they have allowed an average of 7.75-FPPG to their opposition, nearly three points higher than the league average. Additionally, the Lions have yet to cause any opposing defense to finish with a negative fantasy score. It also helps that their best offensive player, D’Andre Swift, remains unhealthy and is likely to miss this Week 14 game.
The Broncos have played well in 2021 and have continued their solid run to include 21-fantasy points over the last two weeks combined. While the team is not a standout from a sacks or takeaway perspective, the Denver defense remains a top-10 fantasy asset on the season.
Denver is available in 57-percent of ESPN leagues heading into Week 14.
Panthers D/ST (vs ATL)
The final team for Week 14’s streaming list is the Carolina Panthers who will be hosting the Atlanta Falcons.
Atlanta has sadly been the worst team against opposing D/STs. They allow an average of 9.6-FPPG and have given up as many as 26-fantasy points in a single week to their opposition. Further, they have allowed 20-plus fantasy points twice this season, and double-digit fantasy finishes four times. Until further notice, you can start nearly any defense against this Falcons team.
Carolina on the other hand has a very stout defense and they are coming into Week 14 rested thanks to their BYE week. They have logged 32 sacks on the season, tied for the third-most in the NFL, and going up against the seventh-most turnover-prone player in the NFL, Matt Ryan.
This matchup looks great on paper but the Carolina defense could struggle to perform if quarterback Cam Newton and the offense fail to move the ball again. Short fields can make it very difficult on defenses and that seems to be the most likely path to failure for Carolina’s D/ST. Overall, there is a strong possibility the Carolina offense will function normally in Week 14.
The Panthers remain available in 56-percent of ESPN Leagues heading into Week 14.
