Antonio Gibson could be an effective playmaker for the Commanders this coming season, according to Ben Standig of The Athletic.
Fantasy Impact: With J.D. McKissic released and Eric Bienemy taking over as Washington’s offensive coordinator, Gibson has a chance to excel. Look no further than Jerick McKinnon, who thrived in Bienemy’s system and was the RB5 in PPR leagues from Week 9 to 17 last season. Head coach Ron Rivera echoes Standig’s optimism, saying, “Eric wants to make sure [Gibson] gets as many opportunities right now to show us what he’s capable of because I think that’ll be a big part of the game planning.” He added that the Memphis product and Swiss army knife could be a “matchup nightmare for the opponent” in 2023. Sure, Brian Robinson Jr. will remain Washington’s lead back, but Gibson should see enough volume in the rushing and receiving attacks to justify drafting him as an RB3.
