C.J. Stroud will be in an “open quarterback competition” with incumbent Davis Mills in training camp, says DeMeco Ryans. The Texans have rotated their quarterback’s reps with the first team and will continue to do so till one “separates themselves” from the other.
Fantasy Impact: As the No.2 overall pick, it’s only a matter of time until Stroud takes over. Most likely it’s going to be sooner rather than later especially given Davis Mills’s struggles in 2022. Houston needs to develop their rookie and get him playing time to see if he can be their franchise quarterback, so it will come to no one’s surprise if Stroud wins out by the start of the regular season.
