Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said on SiriusXM Mad Dog Sports Radio that RB Cam Akers has had a strong offseason, has built rapport with the team’s new RB coach and will be a “huge part” of what the Rams do in 2023.
Fantasy Impact: McVay also briefly mentioned RB Kyren Williams, who enters his sophomore season, but proceeded to call Akers a “stud” and say that he is in a good place physically, mentally and maturity-wise. Akers was a fantasy football frustration in 2022 when he fell out of favor in the Rams’ offense and the coaching staff said they wanted more out of him. With RB Darrell Henderson gone, Akers can potentially build upon his 2022 season where he still rushed for 786 yards on below-average efficiency while playing less than half of the team’s snaps. He can be drafted on average as the half-PPR RB22.
