Davis Mills and CJ Stroud have been splitting first-team reps in training camp so far, and this will likely continue as the preseason progresses until a starter is named. Coach DeMeco Ryans said the team will name a starter when “it’s the right time”.
Fantasy Impact: From a fantasy perspective, this is more relevant for Stroud’s outlook than Mills’, since Davis isn’t even on the radar at QB71 according to FantasyPros consensus ADP and likely wouldn’t be a viable option even if he starts early in the season. Meanwhile, Stroud is being taken as QB24. If Stroud has even a decent training camp, we can assume he would be named the starter eventually given his draft pedigree and Mills’ performance in 2022.
