The Detroit Lions announced that they have signed first-round RB Jahmyr Gibbs to his rookie deal ahead of training camp.
Fantasy Impact: Rookies report to training camp for the Lions on July 19, so Gibbs signed right in time for Detroit. The Alabama product accrued 1,370 scrimmage yards and 10 TDs in his one season with the Tide, showing off his ability in both phases on offense. Gibbs will likely fit into a similar role that the team had projected for RB D’Andre Swift as a dual threat offensively, giving him lots of opportunity for high-value touches on a promising offense, though RB David Montgomery will likely eat into his role on the ground and in the red zone. Gibbs is being valued as the RB2 in dynasty rookie drafts.
