James Robinson did not record a carry and failed to haul in his only target in Jacksonville’s 23-17 loss to the Giants in Week 7.
Fantasy Impact: Robinson’s only rushing attempt was negated by a penalty on a forgettable day for the 24-year-old. Robinson was a feel-good story in the early part of this season, scoring in each of the first three games. Unfortunately for Robinson’s fantasy managers, Travis Etienne Jr. appears to have finally taken over the reins to become the bell cow back in Jacksonville. The Jags have a tough matchup in Week 8 against the Broncos making Robinson potentially sittable even if he was the lead back but he should be on your bench with a high probability of dropability coming as we get confirmation in Etienne’s emergence in the coming weeks. Jags head coach Doug Pederson alluded to Robinson not being fully healthy after the game saying “We know [Travis Etienne, Jr.] has done a nice job kind of taking over there, but we need everybody. We need James, and we’ve got a lot of confidence in James still. It’s not anything about a lack of confidence or anything. We just have to make sure he is 100% before we move forward.” It sounds like there is a possibility that Robinson is showing some ill effects from his quick return from a torn Achilles last December.
