What can we expect in Week 12 in fantasy football from some of the game’s top pass-catchers? See how the latest trends with fantasy football targets are having an impact on your players.
WR – Kenny Stills (MIA) at IND – SUN 1:25 PM PT
The Dolphins are extremely depleted at receiver this week. Jakeem Grant is out for the season with a ruptured achilles. DeVante Parker is truly questionable this week after not being able to progress past the non-contact portion of practice. Danny Amendola is also questionable (but leaning towards playing) with a lingering hamstring injury. Additionally, Ryan Tannehill is back at QB after healing from a shoulder injury. With the Dolphins almost certainly down in this game, Tannehill will need to throw the ball quite often. Stills stands to gain from a high target share this week purely due to a lack of bodies. Considering his matchup against the Colts, Stills targets are of decent quality.
WR – JuJu Smith-Schuster (PIT) at DEN – SUN 1:25 PM PT
JuJu Smith-Schuster has a fairly tough matchup in the slot this week against Chris Harris Jr. He was given a -13% matchup grade from Pro Football Focus. The concerning element in Smith-Schuster’s target total this week is the Broncos tendency to force their opponents into a run funnel approach. Lacking a strong run defense, while bolstering a strong pass defense, James Conner will likely see an uptick in touches. The Steelers already have a tendency to lean on their running game while on the road. With only a modest game total posted at 46.5 points, there aren’t many signs promoting high usage from Smith-Schuster this Sunday.
TE – Jack Doyle (IND) vs. MIA – SUN 1:25 PM PT
After returning from injury three weeks ago, Jack Doyle has seen an 81% snap count. Over that timeframe, Doyle has outpaced Eric Ebron in targets 14 to 6. Erik Swoope will sit out again this week with a knee injury. Additionally, Mo Alie-Cox (who has played on 39% of snaps during Doyle’s return) is expected to miss this week’s game with a calf injury. With only two Colts TEs able to play, at the rate in which the Colts utilize the position, Doyle should see a near 100% snap count. The Colts have the second highest implied total of the weekend at 51 points. Luck continues to pass the ball regardless of different game scenarios. Given the great game environment and team injuries, Doyle should capitalize on more opportunities.
WR – Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) at PHI – SUN 10:00 AM PT
After seeing 4 targets last week, while Saquon Barkley ran all over the Buccaneers, Odell Beckham should be in line for a much heavier workload this Sunday. The Eagles will likely take a lead at home, forcing Manning and Beckham to take form. Not much truly needs to be explained, but Beckham is in a very great position this week. His matchup against Jalen Mills is an extremely winnable one and his game environment promotes his high usage. Expect Beckham to return to form and tack on another heavy target total.
TE – Cameron Brate (TB) vs. SF – SUN 10:00 AM PT
With O.J. Howard on IR, Cameron Brate will mold into a clear receiving option for the Buccaneers. Ironically enough, this is the week in which Jameis Winston regained his starting job at QB. It’s no secret that Winston and Brate have great chemistry. In the highest projected total of the week at 54 points, facing off against a weak 49ers secondary, Brate should make an immediate fantasy impact. It’s important to note that the Buccaneers spread the ball around quite often and are somewhat unpredictable in target shares. While you can expect a clear rise in targets for Brate, it’s hard to project at what rate.
